VIP SKI’s new luxury apartments allow ‘Pleney’ of access to Morzine’s trendy centre

VIP SKI is introducing two new glamorous designer apartments to its Morzine portfolio. Colibri Uno and the Colibri Penthouse are within a stone’s throw of the Pleney telecabine in the heart of town. For guests staying at VIP SKI’s Colibri apartments, access to Morzine’s groomed pistes has never been easier. Available to book for the forthcoming winter season, VIP SKI offers January and March saver weeks for guests who book by 31 October 2017.

A rare diamond amongst the purpose-built resorts of the Alps, Morzine offers the charm of an authentic French town. Its down-to-earth vibe is a consequence of its year-round appeal, friendly locals and abundance of effortlessly-cool eateries. When dining out (on the chalet staff’s day-off) families can delight in traditional Savoyard dishes or imaginative Asian-inspired cuisine. By night, the valley is sparkling with lights; live music and laughter drift out from Beanies café, and young couples sip craft ale at Bec Jaune, the local brewery. Popular with the English since Edwardian times, the town is now at the cutting edge of mountain culture.

The town reaches across two sides of the valley, linking the Morzine-Les Gets ski area – where the sheltered forest-lined slopes are ideal for beginners – with the exposed ridges and impressive inclines of Avoriaz at 1,800 m. Morzine is the centrepiece of the Portes du Soleil ski area, and comprises 650 km of pistes, ideal for all levels. Snowboarders and freestyle skiers can be found making merry laps of ‘The Stash’, one of the areas designated snow parks, and daredevils can often be seen snaking down the Swiss Wall, a near vertical mogul field, into Switzerland. From the Pointe de Nyon in Morzine, the view of Mont Blanc takes centre stage and families and groups of friends can often be found enjoying a picnic on the side of the slopes.

The proximity of Geneva airport makes for a short 90-minute transfer to the Colibri apartments. Characteristic of VIP SKI’s other chalets; the two new apartments are spacious and have all the modern comforts to create a relaxing holiday. Both Colibri apartments have four bedrooms at the quiet rear of the building, each with a flat screen TV and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The wraparound balcony is complete with a hot tub, from which guests can discreetly survey the après-ski scene below.

The Colibri apartments are part of a luxury new-build chalet, which sits amongst creperies and rental shops on Morzine’s high street. It was VIP SKI’s ambition that these apartments would be as close to the lifts as possible, without being classed ski-in ski-out, so guests can benefit from the town’s atmosphere with none of the faff. A lift up to the apartments (from street level) relieves guests of the short climb after a long day on the mountain. Routes up to Avoriaz are by way of shuttle bus, which arrives at the foot of the apartment block. Alternatively, guests can make use of the miniature tourist train that ferries skiers across to the Super Morzine lift, a firm favourite with families.

Groups of eight to twelve skiers can stay at the Colibri apartments. Colibri Uno is priced from £1079 pp, for a seven-night stay, with chalet board accommodation, return flights and transfers, and VIP SKI’s dedicated chalet service, arriving 7 January 2018. The Colibri Penthouse is priced from £1109 pp, for a seven-night stay, with chalet board accommodation, return flights and transfers, and VIP SKI’s dedicated chalet service, arriving 7 January 2018. It differs from Colibri Uno in that it is spread across two floors. Children or adults occupying bunk beds in the family rooms pay half price.

Saver weeks and short breaks
Those wishing to stay in one of the new chalet apartments for less can save £100 pp when they book a week’s stay beginning 7, 14, 21 and 28 January and 11 March 2018. The offer is valid when booked before 31 October 2017. Skiers looking for a short break after Christmas can enjoy a four-night stay  arriving Wednesday 3 January at Colibri Uno from £756 pp and at Colibri Penthouse from £786 pp.
