VIP SKI hosts Health & Wellness Ski Retreat in Val d’Isère

New for 2019, VIP SKI’s charming Bellevarde Lodge, located in the beautiful mountain resort of Val d’Isère, will welcome guests for a relaxing and rewarding Health & Wellness ski retreat. Following its successful trial in April 2018, the exclusive week-long holiday will commence on 6 January 2019 and promises to be an alpine eutopia, where skiers can immerse themselves in all things health.

Taking place after the decadent festive season comes to a close, the Health & Wellness ski retreat will offer on-site yoga classes, spa facilities and a nourishing menu designed to leave guests feeling energised and delightfully satisfied. Guests will have access to the sauna, indoor pool, steam room, yoga room and massage suites, so they really can relax as much as they want. All of this and not forgetting VIP SKI’s classic chalet features: boot warmers, outdoor hot tub, roaring log fire and attentive chalet staff.

Guests joining VIP SKI for a week of indulgent wellness activities will also be able to explore the vast Val d’Isère-Tignes ski area, home to 300km of pistes.

Food
Working in collaboration with NutritionMe, VIP SKI has designed a healthier menu option for the week with fresh, wholesome ingredients to ensure guests feel at optimum health for the days’ activities. The aim of the week isn’t to lose weight or restrict guests from eating the foods they want to eat on holiday. The week is designed to provide guests with the best nutrition possible to keep them fueled for the slopes without leaving them feeling over-indulged, as so many chalet menus can. Food items such as alcohol, chocolate, cheese and meat all feature, however they appear in moderation. Guests will also be able to ask for nutritional advice from Jo Hollington, founder of NutritionMe, who will be staying at the chalet with guests on this ski retreat.
To prepare for a day on the mountain, breakfasts will include overnight oats, porridge or an egg dish, plus yoghurts, bread, no-sugar jam, a selection of cereals and muesli, fruit, smoothies, plus coffee and a selection of teas. Chalet guests don’t need to miss out on afternoon tea; they can expect healthier treats such as flapjacks, blueberry muffins or chocolate and peanut protein energy balls.
Evening meals will comprise three courses of well-balanced ingredients, the entire menu is focused on nutritious ingredients, with lean protein foods, whole grains and fresh vegetables.

Yoga
Living and exercising at altitude has very different demands on the body. As part of VIP SKI’s Health & Wellness ski retreat, VIP SKI has included yoga classes to help clear guests’ minds and boost their physical and mental well-being. Whether guests are complete beginners or seasoned yogis, VIP SKI’s partner, Bonne Santé will provide daily yoga sessions to suit all levels. Led by Rose – a Sports Therapist whose wealth of anatomy knowledge adds extra depth to the classes – both Ashtanga and Vinyasa ‘Flow’ yoga classes will be offered and will focus on breathing, conscious movement and alignments.

Wellness
Massage can help to improve circulation, improve sleep and sometimes even boost immunity. VIP SKI works in partnership with Ski Physio, which is offering a 10% discount on all massage treatments to guests on the Health & Wellness ski retreat. Whether guests would like a massage in preparation for a day’s skiing or one at the end of the day to tend to those aching limbs, one of Ski Physio’s highly-trained therapists will meet them next door in the spa.
In addition to the massages, guests can benefit from the healing powers of the sauna to relax muscles, improve circulation, reduce blood pressure and stimulate the body to release endorphins, which can help guests to relax and sleep better.

Sleep well
Sufficient sleep is extremely important when skiing as bodies uses this time to repair and build muscle damaged during exercise. VIP SKI provides magnesium oil (transdermal spray) to help guests sleep better thanks to its calming effect. Magnesium, an electrolyte integral to general health, is often depleted after exercise so it is important to supplement it in the evening. Guests will also be provided with a lavender pillow spray to help fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more refreshed, and ready for a day on the slopes.

Bellevarde Lodge
Based at the beautiful ski-in, ski-out Bellevarde Lodge in Val d’Isère, which sleeps 12 in six en-suite bedrooms, guests can take some time out in the chalet’s indoor pool and spa complex or in the outdoor hot tub with epic mountain views. In the evening skiers can put their feet up and have a cosy night in around the enchanting open fireplace.
The Health & Wellness week is priced from £1,449 per person (based on two sharing) arriving 6 January 2019.
