Discover Powder Mountain in North America with Ski Safari

The leader in bespoke ski holidays worldwide unveils its newest addition to its USA portfolio

As an accomplished North American specialist, Ski Safari is very excited about launching Powder Mountain to the UK ski market.

Every year, Ski Safari welcomes the winter season with numerous exciting additions to its programme. With a strong team of dedicated skiers and snowboarders behind the scenes, the selection of new resorts and safaris is always carefully planned to match the desires of those looking for a snowy adventure.

In time for the forthcoming ski season, Ski Safari has added Powder Mountain to its USA portfolio. Quite possibly the best, little-known ski resort in the world, Powder Mountain, in Utah, has more than 8,000 acres of skiable terrain and receives over 12 metres of snow each year, making it one of the largest and snowiest ski resorts in North America.

Affectionately called “Pow Mow” by locals, Ski Safari chose Powder Mountain because of its old-school, laid-back atmosphere. The resort features 100% natural snow (there are no snowmaking facilities) and has a real, no-frills approach, compared to some of the alternative resorts found nearby. This makes Powder Mountain incredibly affordable even though it’s only an hour from Salt Lake City.

However, Powder Mountain’s most attractive quality is that it has the fewest skiers per acre of any resort in North America. Skier numbers are strictly capped to 3,000 season passes and 1,500 day passes. Simply speaking, that’s two acres of powder per skier. Skiers come here for one reason: uncrowded, deep, incredible powder skiing.

The skiing and snowboarding is split across five peaks and is accessed by nine lifts. The 167 slopes are ideal for intermediate and above skiers and the Powder Country Shuttle and three snow cats allow adventurous enthusiasts to access more terrain. And if that’s not enough, guided backcountry and heli tours are available at amazingly affordable prices.

Powder Mountain’s snow cat expeditions are limited to 11 guests in order to preserve the quality of the experience. Wolf Canyon, home to the steepest and deepest backcountry in Powder Mountain, is now open to a limited number of guided tours as well.

Join the other visitors who travel to Powder Mountain and stay in Ogden, a laid-back local’s town just 20 minutes away from the resorts of Powder Mountain and Snowbasin. There’s nothing typical about Ogden: it’s rugged and rustic, yet cool and urban. Its rich and authentic personality means it is a great place to get to know the local way of life. There is a balance of varied shopping, delicious dining and exciting nightlife to be had. Plus, make the most of the access to the majestic skiing of the Wasatch Mountain Range or head to the three resorts of Snowbird, Snowbasin and Alta, just an hour away by car.

How much? Head to the 4* Hilton Garden Inn in the heart of Ogden. Rooms here are smart and simple with lots of space. At the end of the day enjoy the indoor pool and hot-tubs. Stay in a standard bedroom on room only, based on two sharing for seven nights and including one-stop flights with Virgin to SLC and SUV car hire, from £1,185pp departing on 24 January 2018.  For more information contact Ski Safari on 01273 224 060 or visit www.skisafari.com
